Today Is My Last Day
Today Is My Last Day By Rick Rucker As today is my last day, There are some things I’d like to say, When we met, I was Alone, No one to talk to on the phone. All that changed in the restaurant, You were all that I could want! You were so appealing, Filled my Heart, and gave me healing, I didn’t know how it felt to Live, That I had so much Love to give, You didn’t let me grieve, From it, you gave me a reprieve, Had it not been for You, My life would have been completely through, You have given Life itself, Taken my Heart down from the shelf, By squeezing it by hand, Took me to The Promised Land! You crossed off all on my bucket list, From the first time that we kissed. No matter how I tried, Couldn’t top it ‘fore I died! The Reaper is my friend, We have parried ‘til my End, He has done his level best, To assure my Eternal Rest, I have but to take his hand, He will guide me to The Promised Land. It will not be quite the same, But You helped me win The Game, Heaven won’t be that new, I feel it whenever I’m with you! I don’t want you to cry, We are all meant to die, What’s a pity, are those that never live, Don’t find out how to give, Love, with all its splendor, Enriches both the receiver, and the sender! I might have been one of those lost souls, Letting Life’s vagaries exact their tolls, Had it not been for You, The one that turned my skies to blue! Though my reprieve was not forever, You must know I’ll Love You ever, As there is just one Sun, You will always be The One! I do not wish to make you cry, Just to tell You, Love, "Bye Bye!"
