The Silkie
Born from the sea..from the green ocean depths, In solitude she rode the dunes on stormy nights. They called her Rain for the tears she shed, But none understood the depths of her plight... Her mother was a silkie, come from the sea, Left her to live as humans do upon the land. But her heart was torn with deep longing, To swim with the seals , not live in the sand... She saw the past with old and seeking eyes, And the future as she hoped it would be.. On the back of her stead she cried to the wind. To return to her home was her ardent plea... And then one still night from a silent sea, The seals came ashore to take her home. No sign was left but her gossamer gown, And a strand of dark hair upon the foam... **"Silkies" are mystical creature in Scottish folklore..they are seals that shed their skins to become humans...
