This One Child
This one child, left alone in the world. No one to care for him. No one to love him. Happiness has yet to come for him. It’s out there but it just hasn’t come back to him. Like when you are lost in the dark looking for the light switch. Someone just has to light up this boy’s life. This boy, once had a family. A father, a mother, a sister, and his own pets. He lived peacefully, with his loving family. As happy as could be. Always had the greatest smile. Nothing ever brought him down. Until that one night. He was walking home from a friend’s house after playing and heard the fire and police sirens crying over the rooftops. He noticed that the police cars and fire trucks were all going in the same direction he was. But he didn’t pay any attention to it, until he got home. When he arrived home, there were police barricades set up around the house and water shooting towards the house. The fire men were trying to put out the fire. But it was no use; the fire engulfed the house in flames and just ate it whole. The boy came to learn that the fire place had caught some clothing on fire and it spread throughout the house. His family was in the basement as it happened and never had a chance of escaping. Everyone said that if they were even able to make it to the basement door leading to the kitchen, they would have suffocated from the thickened air. Jake was taken in by a foster home but was bounced to a new foster home every couple of months. He finally came up with the decision to just run away from it all. Start anew. Travel to new lands of where he heard happiness was always around. Where sorrow could not bring anyone down. But he was never able to make it to a place such as this. He did manage to make it to a new place, away from where the tragedy had happened. But this place was far worse. No one was ever happy, always sad and upset. Always making people feel like they are nothing. I wish to inform you that for this one boy there was no happy ending, only a happy beginning. This boy, who I never got to learn his name, met her and was never seen again.
