Hope
Since you've been gone the truth can't hide, it attacks me, exposing me to the real sadness that's always been overshadowed by hope. So I avoid the buildings filled with people and the machines that breathe for them, wondering how they live happily when the quality of life is so poor. how they smile for the children in the waiting rooms. children who need more than crayons and deceiving smiles to keep them happy.. exposed to the real sadness...of waiting to say goodbye. But then I saw a boy with your same scar, outcasting him from a crowd of people who've never had their chances of survival read to them... He gave me the first piece of hope I've had since you've been gone, he reminded me there's still boys just like you, offering warm smiles to the children in the waiting rooms, waiting to say goodbye. He was happy and healthy and I wanted to cry, I've missed you so much and it was like today, you're alive... .. real sadness can't hide but will always be overshadowed by hope.
