Black
"BLACK The color black is all around Its reflected in the downcast eyes of every passerby Brooding, angry clouds display their rage in the rolling, rumbling dark Its in the grave while family members gather to pay respect Black: the color of death Its everywhere, yet never seen The people shove and fight it away And hide their deepest secrets in the pit of silence and dark Feel it upon you Yet look up, down, back, forward and you will not find it Such a common thing, this darkness, yet so few who truly understand But there are those who do And it is a terrible burden to bear indeed For the unlucky few who know the truth Those that realize its not only a color ...Its an emotion Some become consumed And soon they will know Not only does black describe But IT IS A physical presence Consuming, terrifying, destroying Suffocating And others still will welcome it with open arms And welcome it though they may Here they will find no comfort In the blackness they will find only pain and despair And in the end, no matter how they dealt with the black Those who ignored, those who recognized but chose to deny Those who understood and feared; those who welcomed all with open arms All, yes all, of these will fall And in the end, there is no hope Only the black Never will anyone avoid... THE BLACK" Just a free verse I wrote the other day. Wrote it basically out of random emotion. Just sat down and let it flow. My first real poem to speak of. Anyway, I thought it was pretty good for a first try, just wanted some feedback. Thanks
