Such peace it will be to finally escape this cell...... 8 years of my life for a crime I did not commit; Will always be years I will never forget! So much turmoil and pain I've had to swallow. I thought I would go insane and my death would follow! There were times I thought I would not survive the cold nights. I did what I could to stay alive, including fist fights! I even experienced adultery one dark gloomy day. A letter saying my wife left me for another man and ran away! I just knew I would succumb to insanity, When my momma passed. For she was my only family! On and on, so alone did these prison walls try and consume me. No one to phone, an ache under my breastbone was my reality! My soul has been battered since I've been confined. But I guess it don't matter because I did not lose my mind! No more worries and stress, you can imagine my happiness that day will soon arrive! I must express the joy in my chest for I've never felt more alive! No more tears and fears, I'm about ready to disappear!
