Yard Sale Delight
Yard sale delight I wish with all my might A yard sale sign will appear For quickly to it I would steer. There's a sign, sale at Mr. Grover's He owns that huge lab, Rover He is a gentle gent Huge blue house, he and the Mrs. rent. Each item he and Mrs. arrange Each one observed, some so strange All laid out on this bright sunny day Both waiting to grab the loot they pay. Madam and Pop---- up for it all Quickly selling their items, like sales clerks at the mall Displaying it all, even cloths with ripped seams New evening dress, last years sunken dreams And soon it will all be over They hoping all's sold but the dog Rover What is left, tucked away in the shed To sort later, well.....all will dread. Pops will praise the Mrs. for her work well done But oh me oh my, while lapping up all the fun Pops sits near the money with his selfish plot While propping his feet on grandmas old ten dollar cot. They will repent soon, for the yarns spun, descent so bold Of the lie they swiftly told, of the end table finally sold Sale is now over, alone in the yard left--is tattered old sign It says "Yard Sale Today." All has went fine. Linda Terrell March 8, 2010
