Act I Scence 2 (The Count)
DRACULA: Welcome, my beautiful brides, to my humble home. MARISHKA: Ah! Vladislaus, tis perfect. ALEERA: In every way! DRACULA: Now, that we are married, shall we have children? VERONA: Aye! Vladislaus, we are unable to give birth. DRACULA: Why is this? ALEERA, MARISHKA, VERONA: We are but corpses. The dead cannot give life. DRACULA: No! No! Why?! I must have an heir. VERONA: Maybe there is life after death? DRACULA: What do you mean by this? VERONA: Maybe if you die too, we could give birth to dead children. Maybe they could walk the cold, dark world forever. DRACULA: That is possible, but a bit absurd. ALEERA: Please, Vladislaus. Don’t fret about this now. Ye should have children, and ye shall have an heir. DRACULA: Come my brides. Together; we shall conjure an heir. ALEERA, VERONA, MARISHKA: Yes! Yes, my love. We shall try.
