Beaten in so many ways, sometimes good and then bad days. Never know what to expect, I asked to be treated with respect. Mornings allays were the same, though you would think he'd feel the shame. Wait to see which mood he had, was he nice or was he mad? Expect the worst and hope for the best, giving it the ultimate test. Is he keeping his hands to himself today? I couldn't take much more of it anyway. At one small point I almost didn't care, I realized there's better for me out there. So one day came he raised his hand, I had made it clear for him to understand. If he were ever to do that to me again, it would be the last time and the end. Nobody should live that way, so I fought back that final day. A prisoner I will not be, I fought my way to be set free. I kicked his ass all over the place, said never again will you hit this face. I stood my ground so I could leave, so maybe now he will believe. If I can beat that violent rage, so can others who live in that cage. Just fight back and take a stand, so on your feet you can land.
