Lost in the Woods
Lost in the Woods Strolling in the midst of a dense forest With emerald green trees spanning the sky, Tasting the pristine beauty of the scene Somehow I found myself lost in the woods; I wearily waded my way in vain Across the tortuous serpentine lanes, Speckled all through with thick thorns and thickets, But each time fumbled at the starting point; Lost by misfortune in a select zone I felt like a stranger in a strange land, Like an intruder amidst giant trees Towering the tightened sphere with their shade; Knowing not the rightful course to pursue I stood still and tried to peer down myself For the inner light to dispense some hints Or the inner voice to whisper some words. But, most of the trees seemed to sneer at me, Some to snarl at me like wild woeful winds Treating the area as their enclave, A guarded territory of their own; A few of the lofty trees seemed to shine Like sapphire gems of sincere sympathy, Some with their heart, gilded in molten gold, Some with their mind, glowing like emerald; One massive tree seemed whisper near my ears: “Peer into the depth of your heart with love And the course of your path will shine therein Follow it and you`ll reach your journey`s goal;” Another gigantic tree seemed to hint: “Let go of the scoff and snickering sneers, Gaze down your inner self with tranquil mind, The inner light will blaze your path ahead.” I pursued the counsels of both huge trees: Both pointed in the self-same direction, The same course, at end of which emerged light Broadening my vision and my essence.
