As she watched the world revolve around her as if she was not even there. Spinning as if a tornado threatened to whisp her away into a dark starless night. The Painted Smile placed on her face by the ones she thought she loved and thought loved her back. The ones who smiled bright in her eyes, but threw shades as she turned to walk away. The shades of whispers and lies of how she feels inside. The pain she carries from the rejection she feels from all that meet her gaze The Painted Smile that adorned her face after the love she gave was so careless rejected and tossed it back into face like it meant nothing to him. The one who lied to her beautiful honey brown eyes. Lies of true love and the promises of a life befitting a fairytale. The promises made deep into the night while holding her heart close in his hands, all the while knowing they were promises he would never keep The painted smile on her face, the mask she uses to cover the loss of trust she felt with each passing day. The lost faith in those who promised never to leave her side. The loss of hope of ever feeling that what had been so viscously torn from soul. Leaving a dark cold yearning where it all once was. The Painted Smile that only fades when she slips into her own solitude deep in her mind. The solitude that feels more like her own prison. The prison that all the whispers, the stairs, and the many lies that had put her there. The dark cold cell that is her mind, the cell where the painful memories of what should have been play over and over not giving her a moments peace. The peace that she craves and that only silence can give. The Painted Smile that became her shield for so long. The shield that gave her a false sense of security from all the gazes from those who falsely gave her the security she so desperately needed. The false warmth that always fell cold, sending a shiver up and down her spine. That shiver that always brought her back to the sad reality that is her life. The Painted Smile that will only fade when she finally finds her own sense of self-worth. Her own feeling of security that only she can build and really on. The self-worth that will allow her the strength to come out from behind her protective shield she has held for so many what felt like lifetimes. The strength to look those in the eyes who had disappointed her at every turn. The strength to push away the disappointment and give back her voice and courage to face another day, head held high. The Painted Smile, will the colors run from her face leaving a real smile that will reach the fire in her honey brown eyes. Only Time will Tell Author, Someone You May Know For B.J.
