Strolling down the street with some streaks of fear Amid harsh music deafening the ears, A pluralistic picture greets the eye With hues from diverse parts of the sky Treading on, or sipping in roadside bars Amidst folks lying by, gazing at stars, Some with needled dose, trudging like zombies, With their breath anytime likely to freeze. Some folks dipped in overdose shed their lives At the shrine of the street and don`t survive, Many, sunk in drug wells beyond control Forfeit homes, families and lodge as moles; On other side of the street, one may view Fair blondes, dressed in half skirts or shorts all new, Parading themselves in search of targets To trade their bodies as commercial objects. Peering behind the veils of such a state, Often poverty is used as a bait By drug barons to drag folks reach such spells And thrive at the root where poverty dwell; What pertains to the open drug market Sticks to exposed lassies, under carpets Often enticed from abroad, with sheer guiles, To become sex victims in a short while. At times, deception with life is culprit, Tearing down the vigour of the spirit To tatters, leading to drug addiction With all its woeful ramifications; Gloomy is our world where youth frustration Lends its back to drug proliferation, To some magnates, easy wealth creation To sad victims, highest forms of tension. On profound reflection, it may turn out Excess tolerance and freedom may tout Wicked woeful waves of social downturn, That may prove venomous in the long run; Where Somerset and Kensington streets meet Lies the stark truth in the wide open street; Yet, where social ills shine with tolerance Poking the nose can prove an annoyance.
