The Pharaoh's Heart
A stubborn heart will stubborn be, No matter what God’s word decrees. Each time a stubborn man says no The harder still his heart will grow. The sun's harsh heat that melts beeswax makes clay soil so hard that it cracks. Whether to love God or to hate the heart's condition will dictate. God sent Moses to meet Pharaoh And to tell him, “let my people go.” Pharaoh’s proud heart caused him to say "I will not, God, your words obey. His idols held sway in his heart So, Pharaoh chose to play the part of "Stubborn Mule" that would not move e'en though God would his power prove. In Pharaoh’s heart, he was a god O, he was not by God’s might awed. Who is this God who was unknown to make him let his bondslaves go. So, Pharaoh made his own heart hard With each refusal, it was scarred, God gave him up to his own way Not even He could Pharaoh sway. If today you should hear God say, “Turn from your sin without delay,” Do not like Pharaoh proudly say “God, I will not, your word obey. Life for a stubborn soul is hard Each foolish choice leaves their heart scarred. The fight with God, no one can win So, don’t let Pharaoh be your twin.
