The Twilight of Fantasy
I was walking down a lonely street, wondering where everyone had gone. It was still daylight, My footsteps echoed as I journeyed along the empty road. As I walked, the road stretched further ahead, and suddenly trees began to grow on either side. I looked around in amazement and noticed a stream flowing ahead of me. When I peered into the river, I saw a glowing figure standing beside me. I rubbed my eyes and looked again. She smiled at me; It wasn’t a DREAM— I was in a magical realm. I turned around and spotted a hill in the distance. Confused, I wondered what was happening. Everything was unfolding so quickly. Was my IMAGINATION creating a new world? Was I caught in a web of HALLUCINATION? I climbed to the top of the hill and looked down. I gasped, The scene was breathtaking. Tears welled in my eyes as I took in the beauty, it was like an unsoiled yesterday. Blissful faces embraced by pristine nature. “Are you in awe?” a voice asked, its tone filled with WHIMSY. I turned around and nodded, smiling at the figure. He smiled back at me. Suddenly, my phone rang, jolting me out of my REVERIE. I realised it was past twilight; Hours had passed in my world of VISUALIZATION. “Hello, Mum. Are you okay?”
