Whatever you do, my child, never run!” “The sun,” said she, “will boil you hard inside, and should you fall, on the ground you will get fried! You are so fragile, dear son of mine. Just stay inside, and you should do fine.” A close call Humpty had when he was five. He fell off a shelf, but managed to survive. He landed on something soft with fur, and then that something began to purr. It was a cat that Humpty fell onto. The cat rolled him like a toy, which cats love to do. His mother saw this and she rescued him. “Take care,” she warned. “Your future could be grim.” You have to know that unlike other eggs, Humpty dumpty was an egg with legs! Too mischievous was he when mother was away. When mom was gone, then the cats could play. They chased young Humpty all around the house. They even taught him how to catch a mouse. When his mom came home, he would be dartin’ back to the safety of his nicely cushioned carton. Poor Humpty Dumpty felt so left alone when his mother died. He was on his own. He wandered out into the street and startled folks. They wondered if eggs with legs had also yolks! In the kingdom lived a prince who caught wind of the walking egg, and Humpty he desired as a “pet” to love. The king had Humpty clothed. To all royalty’s surprise, this walking egg also had a mouth, a nose and eyes. Many days of fun and play the prince with Humpty spent. Everywhere they went together was a big event. Well, you all know the story of Humpty Dumpty’s fall. It was huge, and that, my friends, was the end of it all.
