My children, your births kept me on my knees
To all my children, may you please be aware! I don't always show it, but I will always care. Each of you have been a great gift to me. Your births made this man happy as can be. Each came to this world in a very unique way. Causing me to humble, seek God and to pray. I'd like to share something with each one of you. How you entered this world and how prayer got me through. Latisha, my eldest, back in December seventy nine. A 19 year old Soldier and things seemed just fine. Suddenly things took a turn for the wrong. Your momma's water broke in our trailer home. I ran thru the ER door, yelling "PLEASE HELP ME HERE!" At the same time asking God to help me to not fear. You were 2 pounds 8 ounces, three months early too! Scared and crying I ask God to please not take you. Then came Lekeima in spring of 1981. One month too early, your mom's labor had begun. Again I was worried and started to pray. But you decided nope! I'm coming anyway. Your weight was much better, at least you were 4 pounds. Your vitals unlike you sister at birth were quite sound. I thanked my God in heaven, that now I had two. Two miracle births, your sister and now you. Next there came Tyler in the year 1993. The year gave the first male child to me. In labor and delivery, he just wouldn't come. The doctor said "Push hard, when I get to one!" Your mother complied doing just as she said. The umbilical cord was wrapped around your head. That doctor will forever have your dads respect. She caught you while unwrapping the cord from your neck. Fast forward to the the middle of 1994. I'm wearing gloves and scrubs outside of a door. " Wait here, we will come and take you on in!" 15 minutes later all the trouble begins. There was one thing for sure, I had learn 1st to do. Talk to my God, so I prayed for you. "Please name her Regine, because I love the sound!" She survived in the womb with fibroid tumors all around. Finally in the summer of year 1996. My last child, a boy was born and very sick. Sealed in an oxygen tent, they gave him air. I said "God I'm a smoker and this isn't fair. Please don't take my last child Devin away from me. And make his home one that will always be smoke free! When I left Bayfront hospital later that day. God took a 24 year smoking habit desire away. All five of your births, a miracle they have been. You each have grown up to be good women and men. No matter what happens or whatever we do. I'm always your dad and love each one of you. My best advice to you after I've gone away. Whenever trouble comes, the first thing to do is "PRAY!"
