The Last Wish
I spoke with truth — no veil, no guise, No games behind another’s eyes. No shadows cast, no whispered name, Just open words, without the blame. A fleeting glimpse, a passing grace, One moment time cannot erase. No reply, no echo sent, Yet still, my heart was never spent. I bled my soul into quiet rhyme, Etched it in verse, defying time. The world may read what I once kept, But only I know where it wept. They say, "No one could love so deep," Yet some affections do not sleep. Unseen, unheard, still fiercely true — A silent love the world once knew. So much was left unsaid, unheard, A thousand thoughts without a word. And still I hoped — in quiet ache, That someday fate would let hearts wake. "I’ve written lines that stretched the sky, But none could ever tell you why." It feels like dreaming in the light, A wish that glows just out of sight. I dare not wake, I fear to part, For you're the echo in my heart. I wished for something pure and rare — A bond no time or change could tear. But stories don’t all end with grace, Some vanish, lost in empty space. Yet in each tear, and every fight, A hidden truth begins to light. We sometimes break what we adore, And love walks out an open door. It started small — a spark, a glance, The kind of fate that dares romance. But threads unravel, moments go, And not all hearts can hold what grows. Were it not for storms and pain, Perhaps the bond would still remain. But even rain can leave behind, A garden blooming in the mind. Not every dream survives the dawn, Some linger when the night is gone. Yet every memory, sweet or sore, Still echoes love — and nothing more. To care for one and let them be, Is love in its purest clarity. Not as mine, but still admired, A soul my own has long desired. So here’s my wish — the last, the true: That joy and light may follow you. Though paths diverged, though stars declined, A part of you will stay with mine. You were the chapter undefined, A start, an end — both misaligned. Yet even if you’re never mine… You are, and were — my last divine.
