I couldn't save my fellow man in this far and distant land We came here to defend freedoms rights in a long and endless fight . As soldiers we stood side by side , we wore our uniforms which we did not hide . We are the Proud the Defiant ones and when needed we pick up our guns . They feel against us the cards are stacked in sheep's clothes ready to attack- yet in every conflict they were turned back . Yes ! My brothers life was taken away and for him I do pray. Every life no matter who Or where they may be leaves an empty hole in the hearts of family . Yet the biggest thing that touches my heart is the death of children who in the wars have no part . Innocent lives taken away never to see another day. No more games will they play for in a coffin is where they lay . The only ones that gain by wars are the politicians by the score. The C-rations won't suffice when you live a soldiers life . In a foxhole with bombing all around just becomes a familiar sounds as your friends bodies are on the ground .put the politicians in a ring to fight and after a few rounds they may see the light . Fighting is not the answer this is not what the public is after. There is an Indian proverb which I believe " do not criticize your neighbor until you have walked a mile in their moccasins." That should be our example for peace ! (C) poetlou 032925
