The Ghost of Us
You were the best friend I never had, The love I held in trembling hands. The one thing pure, the one thing true, The brightest light I ever knew. We had our storms, we had our fights, Yet I believed we'd make it right. Through every fall, through every scar, I thought we'd heal—we'd come this far. But love is not just words we say, Not something fate won’t take away. You left, and with you, went the past, Our memories burned, too bright to last. What do you do when perfect breaks? When love is real but filled with ache? If pain still lingers, is it love? Or just a wound I can't rise above? I hold on tight, though it’s not fair, To ghosts that breathe in empty air. And maybe one day, I’ll let go, But today, I mourn the love I know.
