He took me for a ride in his supercharged El Camino. Everything was so surreal. I didn't know if we were moving or the road moved beneath the car. The winter trees at night seemed to glow with a dark orange shimmer as we glided through this corridor of light. At home, I couldn't look in the mirror - so bright! Too much fear gripped me, even more than usual. My reflection moved opposite my nods and me in plural. My folks were very worried, but couldn't help me. It was impossible to sleep on my side or belly. The next day, what seemed to be the same day, I spent in a movie theater watching “Pink Floyd's The Wall” and the animated movie “Heavy Metal-” Over and over in what seemed like today I was isolated and extremely stimulated. The memories of those images and sounds are very vivid, especially when I experience them again. That is when my cravings settled into my brain. I wanted to amplify my inner feelings of excitement by thrill-seeking. The abuse of drugs, like marijuana and alcohol, pushed me into a manic state, fuel for consumption. And that is my trap, my ride into my addiction. Running from myself to hyper-stimulation.
