Summertime Karaoke
Norah Lynn was ten years old, and dreamed of being a ballet dancer; Like cherry blossoms, fluttering in breeze, whispering with no answer. She lived with her parents and sister, Phoebe, in the house upon a hill. Norah Lynn and Phoebe adored nursery songs; like mockingbird thrill! Often, they danced in coral twilight, after study and chores were done; Like the rosy dawn which brings with it, everything under orange sun. Fences were festooned with flame lilies, to greet plum-fuchsia sunset, When giggling friends, found time for fun; and for fresh thrills, unmet! Fancy February was feigning flowers, with the finesse of early spring, As visiting family came in flirting fragrance, to sit on the sunset swing. Nora Lynn lived in the house of rhythm, in touch with moon and stars; And silver seasons' entry in symmetry-with windows open to red Mars. Songbirds screamed in silver oaks, until sable serenity answered back; On her walled street of salvia success-reveling in gold, or in onyx black. Cocoa sun was nestling down for night; and the neighbors came calling, In nurturing, nuanced days of old affection-of red starlight, enthralling. 'Forget-me-not' blooms were remembering, while 'ruby ray' flashed fire; And black, bleeding hearts wore evening shade, elegant in formal attire. 'Rattlesnake plants' bore such venom, and 'daydream' plants dozed away; As earth wore moss colored fur. Albeit bare tomorrow, living lavish today! Nora Lynn had a birthday approaching, like wind that never quite leaves; And she and her family planned a karaoke party-its theme, golden oldies. When jay was in green pine, preening, wearing a blue feather in his hat, The day of the tuneful party arose. Many people came, as gaiety attracts! Time grew older, reveling, as all sang and danced, in twilit, diamond dust; And a good time was had by all; like twirling to a rhythmic beat, you trust. After games, magic tricks, food and dance, Norah Lynn did a karaoke oldie- A nursery song called the 'hokey pokey.' All danced 'neath red sun, smokey. It was the kind of party you never forget, safe in the glitter of old memory; For it's the best old, golden memories, that hold in our hearts, supremacy! 'You put your right foot in You put your right foot out You put your right foot in And you shake it all about You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around That`s what it`s all about!'
