IN CELEBRATION OF 2025 BLACK HISTORY MONTH
IN CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH: 2025 1 Once again, it’s Black History Month; a time to celebrate And commemorate Blacks and those many organizations Which have, in so many ways, affected change in America And the world at large, in building true democratic societies:- Yes, it’s Black History Month! A time in which we African Americans and Africans around world collectively take pride And reflect on various keloid memories of ourstory’s labors In the continuous struggle to regain our liberty, and to regain Our rightful place in the annuals of American and world history:- As the words of John Killens (1969) echo and reminds us today, History is a people's memory, and a people have a habit of Remembering the very best about themselves; it’s human nature:- In transcending–and we must–Ourstory, let us go forth in faith; Let us go forth knowing that God’s decree is one that is inexorable: “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Oh yes! God’s Emancipation Proclamation can not be denied; must be obeyed:- Thus, as we celebrate this Black History/Ourstory Month, let our souls Glorify the Lord and our spirits rejoice in God our Savior and Redeemer:- As we celebrate, let not an iota of dismay be in our midst; God’s on our side, and He has not brought us this far to leave us. Let us ever be mindful that we are of God’s garden; not of man’s Eden:- In this awareness month, let’s sow seeds, reaping ourstory all year long; Cultivating love, let us harvest awareness, nourishing our total liberation:- Let’s be ever mindful that we are not remnants of a dried creekbed; Know that we are the waves of flowing waters of a mighty Nile-like river. Meandering through a great heritage–a mighty ancestry–well rooted here, We shall not be moved–rising and forgiving but not forgetting–we’re here to stay:- 2 TO OUR BELOVED YOUTH: 02/2025 Being the seeds of the seeds Of the fruits of your beginnings, Yours is the destiny to ensure reality To the visions of dreams deemed deferred:- (There is much for you to pursue and do) Listen, chickens have their coops, You–our beloved–are eaglets; Heirs of daughters of the moon, And sons of the shining sun:- (There is much for you to pursue and do) Focus your revealing eyes! Go spread your guiding wings wide->! Feather your warm nest well! Soar the skies in great glory! (There is much for you to pursue and do) The all seeing eye is upon you; The pyramids stand before you; Know that flowing waves are behind you; Know that liberating shores are awaiting you:- (There is much for you to pursue and do) Never forget who and whose you you are, Always mindful of what of what you be: The fertilizing labors of love, peace, and unity, Of the full attainment of our precious liberty:- (There is much for you to pursue and do)
