the ache
life is filled with sparks. like that flicker you get in your eyes when a firework lights up the sky. or that feeling on your skin when you’re in the sea and the breeze hits you. that first sip of water that rushes down your throat after you wake up from a night dancing with your friends. life is filled with extraordinary ordinary things. but every now and then you feel that hole open up. that gaping hole that closed for a minute. a day. maybe even a week if you’re lucky. but every now and then you feel it. that burn in your chest. that rumble in your stomach and the chills that trace the hairs on your neck all the way down to your wrists. it’s an ache. a primal, teeth clenching ache. life is filled with extraordinarily ordinary things. but that ache always comes back.
