Flower hands
Your hands that once felt like flowers blooming under my skin now just feel like hot embers being placed on me Your scent once so sweet and beautiful turned ugly and putrid Your arms which I would obsess over and feel safe within now terrify me and hold me down My words were stolen from your hand covering my mouth, storing them away like a lost treasure Your muscles once being a thing I could stare at for hours soon became what I hated most about you I knew you had power over me but I didn’t know you would use it in that way Collapsing into you like I had sandbags on my back weighing me down unable to get any words except “I don’t know” out The shock of excitement I once felt from you changed to shock from fear, realizing how much control you had over me Feeling your arms tighten around my body as I tried to snake away You loved me, but did you really? That 3 syllable phrase once giving my butterflies turned into a question in my head Saving you from your life being ruined but what about mine? Waking up in a jolt not because I dreamed of you in my life again but because I dreamed of the silent scream, the fear, the strength Everyone says love is the most beautiful feeling, what about when that love makes you fear living?
