Anguished Acrostic
Hello to you and your sweet eyes, Ah, this—a piece from heart I made. Now listen well, be truth or lies; No twist of words, I'm quite afraid. After a week since meeting you, How swiftly did these feelings fell. Before them all, at once I knew: I've been bewitched under your spell. Amidst the days that shone so pure, Not ever did I feel despair. Curiosity and faith made sure Always to pour each talk with care. For once I thought you could be it, An honest keeper of my sight. Resolved my doubts, all loose ends knit; Even my soul found pure delight. Woe is me! What catastrophe Emerged while I stayed unaware! Lies, false whispers, and treachery Left me hollow in your cold stare. "Love can both enlighten and kill." Oh, how I bore this crushing fear! Vivid memories haunt me still— Each moment that has brought me here. Destiny played its cruel hand, Renounced the trust I held so high. And now, afraid here where I stand, Name, thank you still, and last: goodbye. -
