Protection
Breathe so deep, Lasting whispers linger on the lips Stinging the soul from which they slip Tattered memories of sun-stained dreams Holding tight to our own ideas Forsaking bonds that took so long to build To cling to concepts others weave in fear The challenge to understand the motives That drives such sad words Words only meant to Divide. And when the realization of truth Inspires you to look past the words Of mad men looking for worth. Remember the sound of a desperate rant Remember the look in a persons eyes When they are desperately begging to keep their value alive Remember it well when they tell you the sky is falling And offer protection from the rain. For when the time comes and our world does burn at the hands of fools with power Remember it was us Who stood by and let them devour The hope we took for granted The peace we resented It was us who let them take our freedom In the name of protection.
