Please stay with me!” I thought desperately, “Go back! Rewind!” To my utter shock and surprise, it did Woke up to the sight of my calendar on the very same date It had only taken me a few reruns to realize I might have control over Andy’s fate I tried all the oldest and newest tricks in the book Must’ve been stuck on that one day for a lifetime Did every single thing in my power and then some Some attempts had no reason or rhyme Tried to change little things, like the way that I speak No luck, “Go back! Rewind!” Tried to avoid that particular street Zero change. “Go back! Rewind!” Tried to steer clear from cars entirely There would always be another fatal occurrence, “Go back. Rewind.” “But their last wish was for me to stay with them!” It didn’t matter in the end, “Go back. Rewind.” It was on what I now know as my last rerun I finally let Andy finish speaking And little did I know I’d been cutting them off When they had the way out I’d been seeking I thought it would be evil, I thought I’d be cowardly I thought I’d be selfish if I left them behind Their real last wish: “Before I go, promise me That your life won’t end with mine.”
