Paradise
Slipping, skating, sliding, I'm away. Into a different time, a brand new day. Don't know how I got here, don't know if I really want to stay. Heels over head I hit the dirt. A hard way to earn your just dessert. Shaken but not broken, I awaken bruised but never badly hurt. Now, I'm not sure if there is here Or here is there or which is near. But anywhere would sure suffice If it were Paradise... Earthbound, on the ground, in the mud. It's in the heart, the brain, it's in the blood. But something more inside me is rising like an ever growing flood. So skyward, higher, watch me as I soar. Past the gate, the windows, out the door. Made of clay I may be, but surely something greater lies in store. Now, I don't know what you've been told And I'm not sure it's mine to hold But then again it would be nice To live in Paradise... So let it out, let it come on in. It's more than what will show upon the skin. Let the silence sing, let the darkness shine. For what is always there in yours and mine? A little bread and wine? I slip, I turn, I'm spinning once again. Hoping this is not a downward trend. Certain I will make it, just don't know how or where or what or when. Sampling what is out there as I must. But knowing it is nothing, dust to dust. I can taste the manna but can I ever really earn the trust? Now, I'm not sure what is where. In the mind, or in the prayer? Can I ever pay the price To live in Paradise?
