Brutally Broken
Born in the summer, with curly, black hair. You had stolen my heart, Exposed what was there. You made me a mommy, Tiny and perfectly made, My heart outside of my body, My life for yours I would trade. I watched as you grew, And the years went by too fast. You became a young woman, I wished your childhood would last. You were not only my child, But also my friend. You'd call me for everything, I prayed it never would end. I thanked God for His gift, Of giving me you. He must have seen you were perfect, Because He needed you too. I've been shattered and broken, My soul now missing a piece, My heart shuttered and bleeding, No more joy and no peace. I’ve cried so long and so hard, Begging God for you to return. But death is too final, I’m beginning to learn. You were sweet, kind and gentle, And loved by so many. People said you were flawed, But I didn't see any. The days have seemed longer, The nights now stretch on. I want to reach out, But forget you are gone.
