Sonlight
How hopeless and troubled I felt I’d become. The darkness had doubled Since Satan had won. I feared there was nothing- No good could be done- Until I was bathed In the Light of God’s Son. I worried I’d gone Much too far to retreat. My sins seemed my master At every heartbeat. So, I’d strive day and night To turn tares into wheat, But the world worketh lies, And the devil will cheat. I was like to be always The same kind of man, With a sin on my lips, And damnation at hand. When, deep in despair And too broken to stand, I fell to my knees, And awaited command. My Lord, in His mercy, Looked down from above, Not with wrath or disdain, But with infinite love. What came was a whisper, No push and no shove, But it lit up my soul, And it filled me with love. Inside something shifted, And soon I was pleading With Father in heaven To show me the meaning. I knew in my bones, And throughout my whole being, That I’d felt Christ’s love; I knew without seeing…
