The Middle of the Street
I walked out in the middle of the street With all the courage that I need but no one was there And the end was drawing in near, a big limousine passed by With a message straight from the sky, the front row was full The back seat was full but the middle was empty, I stood there for a A while to figure out the meaning but I found myself handing a note to the people in the back seat row; they were people from Africa dressed in fine expensive linen and beautiful head wrap as though they had committed no sin, I wasn’t sure if I was in New York or I was gallivanting in the dark but the people in the long, limousine were blushing about something, they had come to America to attend a wedding and they went on a wild goose chase before they stopped at the gate. I try to figure out what the empty space in the middle was about but my imagination kept dancing about, the people in back seat row was going to attend a musical show so the seat in the middle was reserved for them while the angels watched from the pinnacle of heaven.A sudden empty feeling came over me walking like human in my stomach, but the smiles and laughter coming from the people sitting at the back of the limousine settles the uneasy feelings that were bubbling in my dream. I scratch a note and hand it to them and tell them to call if they need a friend. The limousine cruise comfortable up the street and the middle seat grew large when it picked up the passengers waiting in the dark and suddenly, I woke up out of my sleep.
