The Moment
I can’t remember how I was before you - what I was feeling, doing, or where my heart was. I can’t remember how I lived before you - how the days were, the evenings, the nights. I remember I was sometimes lonely, lost somehow. I’d forgotten who I was meant to be, neglecting me. Automaton in the every day; going through the motions, with no notion of what love truly was, or passion. It was mundane - grey, transparent, colourless. Cloudy in my heart, trudging through the motions, bland emotions, no piquant of tenderness or intimacy. No heart rush, or fluttering of butterflies - just still. And then I saw you - the dark, sultry eyes, the silent desire. The mystery of not knowing, the quickening of breath. a chemical reaction, undeniable attraction, and I saw it too, in you as you stared across the room, making me uneasy. I fidget in my chair, sensing you there, but trying not to look. Then our eyes meet, and we’re suspended in the moment - then - just there - knowing there was no way back. Knot already tied. The red thread of fate binding us eternally.
