What shall we say, shall we go on sinning Romans 6:1 part five
Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? [Don't all you know this because we] were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of His Father, we too may live a new life [in Christ Jesus.] Romans 6:1-4 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection [from the grave,] For we know that our old self was crucified [on Calvary's Cross] with him so that the body of sin can be done away with, [being put to death] so that we may no longer be slaves to sin -because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. [Sin has no control over our new redeemed natures.] Romans 6:5-7 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death has no longer has mastery over him. The [physical] death he died he died to sin once and for all; but the life he lives, he lives he lives to God. [He lives to serve God.] Romans 6: 8-10. [Christ died on the cross once for all [people on the earth] Christ cannot be crucified repetitively. There's no such thing as the erroneous doctrine of temporal salvation.] In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not let sin reign [have control over] in your mortal body so that you obey it's evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments [sources] of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought forth from death [eternal death] to life; [eternal life] and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master [you shouldn't obey sin.] because you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6: 11-14 Slaves to righteousness What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey- -whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, through you used to be slaves to sin Romans 6: 15-16 Roxanne Lea Dubarry 2/14/24
