The Journey
Reluctant to leave the moments, As illusive and threadbare as they’d become, From handling them, manipulating… Cloth and thread, almost like a seamstress, Only my seams were roads traveled. Some roads brought me out in places, I was shocked to discover… Fields of breathless prayers, filled with hope, Aspiring to greet the new morn, With sunlight’s hazy smile, the miracle A fresh light, flowing, - the time has come, she seemed to say, The time has come. Other roads led me to secret trails, Where I was tempted by stones of laughter, Intimate and sharp, like the pleading Peaceful and praising, promising that her truth, Glowing like the fires of destiny, Gave me a song to sing, a smiling that hints, Yesterday unburdened herself on my dreams, And I could feel the silence speaking. I listen with breathless gasps, Waiting, preparing for the circumstances Arising from the ashes of my past, Ashes strewn by heartfelt dreams, covered, By mosslike stories, fiction so familiar, Yet, wistful with a lingering grace, Acquainted with yesterday’s solace, Yet, even tomorrow couldn’t hold her. She was wild, without the wind, She glistened, almost as softly as the moon, While even the stars knew…. They just knew – she was good, so very good. The road to her heart was unsteady, troubled, By grief and sorrow, despair, The wrecking of moments painted by melancholy, Urgent and bruised by doubts, jealous, Jealous of the way her feelings could shout, When left to their own songs, their own rhythms, She could believe – she might do anything, Follow the stars, the dreams in hues of music, Destined to believe, just believe… The road to hope was a road set in faith, A road, soundless and never weary. Paved with light that reflects all the gentle, Light that echoes the brilliance, A flame filled with suggestions of peace, Light that love reveals with her ache, Love sent to us, the shadow of His gift to us.
