midnight thoughts
I can't sleep again. It's become the usual routine, I lay in bed, stare at the ceiling, count sheep, play an instrumental, but still I lay awake. I wonder what the moon thinks of me, seeing me toss and turn every second that passes. but she glows; yet I wonder, what is she thinking? so I call to her: "Mother Moon! hear my plea" and she listens, yet again, adding on to the pleas I gave a year ago. still, she has given no answer but she still continues to glow, to spread her light, as if the beams of her reflection can cast a blanket of comfort over my body. "I know you hear me weep," I say, and for the first time, I feel her call, so I answer in the best way I know how. I sing her lullaby, and she joins me in this sacred ritual. Bracing me with her beams, enticing me with this trance, reminding me I'm not alone. and there at 4:30 am I can finally lay my head to rest.
