Yesterday
Gone, like the leaf on an autumn gust – Leaving behind brothers in mahogany and rust, Soaring through the silence, blending with light Lingering in solitude, gentle as the softest night… Gone, departing from the soundless rhymes, Seeking a moment to last a thousand times, Risking the wonders of brave and tender hearts, Soothing poems in words the muse imparts. Gone, leaving a generous sun, reflecting grace, Stardust glistens beneath the tears on my face, Gentling the whispers of breathless prayers, Stirring the music that plays for Jesus’ heirs. Gone, good-bye to all the quiet expressions – Inviting those who listen to the lovely impressions, Soundless laughter in hues of melted frost, Webs of light, softly falling near Pentecost. Gone, going without looking back toward yesterday, Knowing that His will won’t ever lead hearts astray. His purpose for me – it is good, noble and reliable. Because I know Him as Lord, my hope is undeniable. Gone, like the rain who beckons from the night, Raising waters so mutely it can bring hearts fright. But, with His love and peace, there comes the forecasting, With Him, there’s no doubting that life is everlasting!
