Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required I suppose there’s a difference between voluntary and involuntary servitude, maybe in the same way consenting adults enter into all sorts of degrading personal situations which otherwise would be major felonies, but when it’s happening it doesn’t feel much different; servitude is servitude after all. As the Great Bard once said, “you have to serve somebody”, and the spectrum of service certainly is broad; from uplifting and honorable to enslaving and degrading, but technically it’s all service, service to others service to our own karma, and in service comes sacrifice. I suppose there’s a difference between voluntary and involuntary sacrifice, but when it’s happening it certainly doesn’t look much different, but it is. The power of will can overcome any adversity turning hardship into opportunity, curse to blessing. And this power is important, but what is the power this will is balancing; what is it that sets the whole into motion? Maybe as we serve others, serve the situation, we discover simply it isn’t us.
