Will He Feel the Love of a Good Mother
Wadandra nestled the baby against her breast. He was content, his tiny lips dripping milk. She loved this child as much as her own. There is a bond when you nurse a babe. The child’s mother is not a loving woman. She has aches and pains, and the baby blues. Wadandra is grateful to get inside the house. Working the fields is hard work, this is a labor of love. The child needs burped, so she puts him on her shoulder. Gently patting the tiny back she thinks about his life. Will his mother ever get over her depression? Will he feel the love of a good mother? She does not know his mama well, but she is concerned. The door opens and a woman asks if she is doing all right. We are doing fine, she says, glad she has plenty of milk. For when she returns home she will feed her own baby.
