Chance Or Destiny? (A Short Story)
She opened the door and there he was Or perhaps he opened the door and beheld her He was tall and dashing, not exactly handsome She is dark and pretty with a handful of freckles Their eyes clash in a flash of recognition He accepts the seat even as she forms the words of offer She can tell he is shy in the words he utters He wonders why she's suddenly slowed her breathing They speak of this and that, relevant and mundane I sit up here and twirl in delight Basking in the glow of lovers reprise He turns to leave, her heart is ablaze His name she does not know, her future she sees in his eyes She bids him farewell, he pauses, a look of something on his face Is it of longing, is it of despair Is this of chance or a dazzling pair of stars crossing Don't look my way, those questions in your heart I'm just a fly on the wall, this perch my temporary home.
