Those Days of Covid and Roses
Those Days of Covid and Roses 4/8/2020 Those days~no, no, not terribly so long ago. When a theatre was still open with an excellent show! Or, perhaps a dinner, with friends, a most jovial repast. Then, we sailed our boats with gleaming, brilliant masts The sounds of children, giddy in or in busy toy stores. So painfully gone with a sign, “CLOSED” on the once welcoming door. How we dressed in our pressed finery to attend our church! Now, on Easter, locked out in the street, in a painful, socialist lurch. Control, rules, like cattle, we, to the slaughter to be eaten. Wondering, if we disobey, with no vaccine, will we be beaten? The deafening silence of empty streets, no children on their way to school. Just memories echoes past, of laughter and smiling to learn the Golden Rule. Oh, the grand fun we had one had on Macy's escalators. Or~ was it that way you looked at me or your delicious breath in that crowded elevators? On warm afternoons, we had a stop at one of the town wineries. Then strolled and shopped at sunny boutiques for their my favorite fineries. Our world economies and our conjoined souls are bursting. We want all our American freedoms back, for them we are tearfully thirsting. Alas, the numbers of deceased from the virus hasbeen mixed with any other deaths. I forgive them not,for doing this,in isolation sitting.when I want to be screaming. We have been taken on a roller coaster ride of heinous fear. Where our rights have swiftly been stolen from us, my dear! Don't touch, don't be near…..just fear?? Are you serious~ are there lepers living anywhere, near here? WE choose not to reside in dark, Fear Gulch,USA. So, get your governmental hands off of us, we are goingout to pray and play! Hats off to Sir Winston Churchill,so long gone! " We have nothing to fear but fear itself!” His philosophy runs through my head, I hear it all day long. In a flash by idiotic mandates, we lost our freedoms. Now, we will have to fight to get them back to all kingdoms. The have grown far worse, since Governments love to control? Propaganda and censorship, no borders no gas?? The USA amd other lands have newer methods, they are on a roll! And you, poet, afraid to pen of your country’s fear and unrest…. What will you do with the power of your pen,,,.simply jest??? There are children who do deserve great educations? Not with government’s curriculum full of obfuscations.
