Such a Thankful Man
It took many years to realize the meaning of a blessing, But today I am blessed is what I am professing. It is from which end of the binoculars you view life that you reap your rewards, You can find faults and problems, or you can receive the bounties of the Lord. Life can be rainbows and soft billowy clouds so serene, Or life can be hard, unforgiving, if you choose that scene. I’ve learned to find good in the darkest of days, I’ve learned to give God all the glory and praise. The old saying: when someone gives you lemons make lemonade, Is another way of turning bad times into a festive parade. There are days when I want to let those bad days take control, Then I’ll see someone less fortunate and realize it’s time I crawl out of my hole. I thank God mostly for saving my soul and for helping me up each time I fell, And for being patient, but that is too long a story to tell. I thank God for my wife, for without her I dread to think where I’d be, She’s been my rock all along but it took so long for me to see. I thank God for my wonderful children, all grown but still precious to me. And for those beautiful grandbabies that God watches over with glee. Mostly I thank God for removing all the bitterness and hate that consumed my soul. And turned me into the thankful man that has made heaven his goal.
