Dena's Teenage Years
When Dena and her girlfriend sneaked out of their houses at night, they both would go and meet boys that they met during the daytime and they were their boyfriends. One day Dena was writing her cousin and left it on her desk at home. Her mother came inside the room and read it and she wasn't too happy. Dena's sister could hear a pin drop one day, Mike, came over after her folk's left. Carolyn could smell things as well as any dog could. Carolyn said,"I know Mike's here, I can smell him and I am gonna tell mother. "Carolyn, just be quiet!" Mike is not here Dena said. But when her folks came home, Carolyn, told them that Mike was there. She always was the one who tatter tailed in our family. I wasn't able to do much of anything without her broadcasting it my folks and everybody else who was around. I left the house at age 18 as I always felt unwanted by my family. My mother had a thing for me, because I knew that, she never really loved me. The reasons why I left home was all because of Carolyn and my mother. My oldest brother, Jim, wanted to sleep with me. I told him, he could when I was age 18, than I moved out instead. I moved into an apartment, in Edmonds to get away from it all. I met my first husband there. My girl friend brought him over for me to meet him. He was in the Navy and was on his furlough and two weeks later, we got married. Because I got married in order to get away from my own family, who never really cared about what happened to me. Than we went to New York after I met him and he had a friend that lived there. His and wife were into wife swamping and they tried to talk me into it also. I was only 18 at the time. When I first met, Al he was okay, but later on he started being mean to me. We had three boys and we moved state to state because he was a bum. And he didn't like paying the bills. I had my first son, Jerry in 1963, in Seattle Washington. He was born in Northwest Hospital. We in stayed in Washington State for around a year. My mother co-signed a loan, for my husband Al, and we moved to New York State. Because that's where he's from but we left New York and came back later on. We had Jerry the first time we were in New York. I had my second son, in New York, in 1964. We lived in New York for a few months with his father. He also left bills in New York and then we moved to Rhode Island. I had my youngest son, Bruce, in 1965, in Rhode Island. After Rhode Island, we went to Florida.
