I See Her In the Garden
Inspired byThomas Edward Brown’s “My Garden”: Not God! in gardens! when the eve is cool? Nay, but I have a sign; ‘Tis very sure God walks in mine (verse 8-10) I SEE HER IN THE GARDEN Planted; taken up as the soul rises to heaven; yet the soil absorbs the tasty or demure, unless plucked - its juicy tomato, red and ripe or likewise the precocious rose, its cheekiness. Wicked maelstrom maimed a few feet, its feat of satisfaction fell the eaten tree, making dust - the earth already dust to dust, now gardening. Some snippets grew back in the Spring and Calla roots were buried - their shoots thus carried through many suns and moons. I see her - she stands, watches, snaps, adores each riveting leaf, yearning for the bud; and then to open, like a child’s hand. This small patch, hers; and His. He watches too. Waiting in the cool of eve, hardly moving, but definitely smiling. 6/29/2023
