We the Mortals
We the Mortals As glamorous as it might seem this world actually is hollow inside; Those beautiful smiling faces sure have sadness embed in; There being no absolute measure of happiness and tranquility; Both playing hide and seek sometimes lost, at times found; As those big houses and riches fail to give that content ; Which a poor man feats in collapsible hatchet at sea shore that often slides into lunar tides; Keep defying the truth nothing will count on that final day; My family, my children, my friends, and my belongings over the years; All my pride, my love and joys, the grief, those tears, the sadness the desires that slowly enflamed my conscience inside out; Absorbed into everyday rat race In various hues of greed; Selfishness soars high and humility slowly withers; Big fish eating smaller man is now a different breed; Changing colours quickly quicker than the six seasons; Why all this melodrama and what for in the end to realise; After losing all that youth in time what if we emerged now as wise; Too late the realm amidst flames as mortality spreads its wings; Engulfs the darkness eloping into light of truth; Until solace be found In the very earth where we came from.
