Jack would climb and roll over my sagged shoulder Kite would lie on paining thighs, for I’m getting older As my wife sits on the sofa knitting a scarlet sweater Fur and wool strands make them a colorful character. In separate bowls I give daily food to Jack and Kite We’re in need of peace, don’t like to see them fight All the sounds of the room cut off, I sit in the dark Listen happily the rhythm of the cats’ silent walk.
