Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required The Light of the Inner Self In the pitch of a wintry night With dark clouds veiling the moonlight, With rains splashing on window panes And washing dust on nearby lanes, With a wild wind whistling outside It is a boon to be inside A homely house to take a rest As birds seek refuge in their nest. I switch off the lights of my room, Just close my eyes in he dark gloom, Pray the Lord that I may have a good sleep, His grace and blessings I may reap And I am endowed with due strength To face the coming day at length. But soon a light invades my eyes, Brightens my self far wide and high, Sends a sizzling sense down my ribs And seems to say that my prayers Have by the Lord been agreed And inscribed in divine letters. I reckon it as the inner light, The true light of the inner self That covertly day and night In all human beings dwells, But eagerly awaits to be lit Through ways deemed proper and fit To guide their crucial path in life And steer their course in their daily strife.
