Wolpertingers Roam
Spring peaches ripen in the moon's shadow. On the other side, wounded lambs moan I grasp a whiff of strawberries       inimical twilight          cynical quadrant               whimsical                   nonsensical I am not a wolf, a hawk, or an ocelot no time for lake-bound lizard yetis tales I am a hunter, not a storyteller peculiar and acrid to pin down you'll be the host of my arrow Wolpertingers roam wild in the forest                               incongruous                      torturous               antlers         fangs                     Your marble-nailed hands prevent iniquity                heat remove the betrayal from my soul the agony of being shunned                doubtful of your decision and yearning your words poison my psyche               my heart ached with love, life, and lies I would never lie if I had shame  tattered fur     untangle wings           clasp paws                  milked leaves releasing ice vapors into the air I saw the green comet fly across the cosmos despite the lore that, wasn't even static.
