Reminiscing At Christmastime
A generation’s first, this lovely boy, my nephew, held us all in total sway. His every word and antic brought us joy. I must confess we spoiled him day by day. He grew up happy, strong, well-liked, and smart. A sister and a brother came along. This patient mentor had a loving heart. As Dad and husband, he was also strong. At forty-two, this fine young Christian died. A heart attack deprived us of his light. We miss him still. Sweet memories abide. In Heaven we will know him upon sight!* Then five years down the road, we lost his dad to cancer. My brother suffered at the end! That brother’s wife soon died. We were so sad! We prayed (still do) “Dear Lord, please help us mend!” We’ll have our feasts and gifts at Christmastime and share sweet stories of the ones we’ve lost. They’re all rejoicing in their home sublime, not, as we are, by life still tempest tossed. *Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:12, "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known" (New King James Version). This verse indicates that we shall know others as well as be known by others.
