The Lowered Banner
The banner I raised high in the air, Singing "it is well,it is well, it is well with my soul" Praying,"dear God,if ever we fail in life, Teach us, never to give up on faith" Preaching,"through all these hardles, keep strong, The Lord who slumbers not will surely bail us out" Teaching,"fear only kills the owner, don't take its possession " Comforting souls that "dark days don't last more than the light" Motivating my colleagues saying,"there is nothing new under the skies, What we're going through, people have, people will encounter, But life will not come to an end, it will continue, With generations coming, with generations fading" Encouraging them to work hard without failing. I was the champion of good change, The activist of a better world with minimal sadnesses. In that small city of my residence,I was the pillar of hope, That has gradually come to fade till it is no more. If ever I was the epitome of success, If ever you admired me and called me your inspiration, If ever I lifted you up,and asked you not to give up; I'll not take back my words,I'll still say the same; I'll still spread out my hands to take you in, And give you a life you deserve, through Christ our sole provider. But one thing I'll not promise you this day is that;- "I will give life one more chance, or that I will hold on a little longer" I will not say it by my lips that;- "I will be patient and wait for tomorrow" The beautiful mask I've always put on, Through my dark and sad days, I shall not wear again. I mean;- I shall not smile again amidst all this. Gone are the days I walked with the shadow of pain, Covering up all the wounds and nursing them silently. Judge me as a hypocrite,or liar, Because I will not argue or urge you to stop. For this is what pain has done to me, Slowly by slowly it has engulfed me and killed me. You see me,with my head up,an empty head, Whose thoughts are millions of miles away from. Pain has bent me to this direction, with no shape. And,who have I,to hold on to? What have I,to keep me going? It is all over, the patience and resilience; It is all done, the patriotism and love. It is all gone, the wealth and popularity. If I say, that I can not breathe anymore, Take it as my real word, for it is all true, That even the strongest minds give up, It is no lie, that those big dreams, at some point die; And,I am at that point today, this very hour.
