Christmas Afternoon
One of my favorite things on Christmas Day Is sitting in my comfortable recliner chair Watching the grandchildren as they play, Running hither and yon, here then there Teaching them how important it is to share. They are so wrapped up in all their treasure I watch them decide what to play with next, These are times which bring a man pleasure Far better than getting lost in some boring text Or, over all the commotion becoming vexed. The room suddenly fills with shouts at each other Especially when it’s too cold to play outside, And sisters are prone to lash out at their brother When there’s a tiff, and Mama’s patience is tried It’s then that I suggest, “Let’s go for a ride!” So, we load up in the car to check out the sights Each child brings one toy to keep entertained As Mama and I enjoy the bright decorative lights, And soon the children forget who complained Briefly, this is our Christmas afternoon explained.
